RIP to Utah's anachronistic caucus system. The delegates chose the fringe, Mr. Herrod. But, the GOP voters chose the moderate Mayor Curtis.
A Utah Foundation survey found Republican voters listed health care as their top priority, while delegates listed states’ rights. Representation also is skewed. Women made up 56% of the Republican electorate but comprised only 24% of delegates.
I am supporting the best candidate – Dr. Kathie Allen. But if Curtis wins, how reasonable can the reasonable John Curtis be in Congress? Consider the Utah County district and the pressure brought to bear on freshman GOP Congress people to do what they are told by party bosses.
